About The Position

The Public Safety Officer II - Armed position at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital involves providing security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion. The officer is responsible for maintaining safety and security through various duties including patrols, inspections, and responding to emergencies. The role requires a commitment to compliance with safety regulations and the ability to handle challenging situations with a service-oriented approach. The officer will also serve as a resource for de-escalation and will be involved in training and mentoring new officers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4 years of experience in a security or public safety role.
  • Completion of 30 credit hours in Criminal Justice or similar course of study and 3 years' work experience.
  • Illinois team members must have completed State of Illinois 40-hour armed course.
  • Willingness to carry a department authorized firearm while on duty.
  • Ability to pass background investigation, drug screen, and psychological screening.

Responsibilities

  • Provides security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion.
  • Maintains Department uniform and equipment in good repair.
  • Performs routine responsibilities during interior and exterior patrols.
  • Assists team members, patients, and visitors by providing information and directions.
  • Ensures traffic control and monitors conduct of visitors.
  • Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence.
  • Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation.
  • Responds immediately to emergency and crisis situations.
  • Investigates incidents and completes timely and accurate reports.
  • Delivers security awareness education to team members.
  • Coordinates with law enforcement and first responder agencies.
  • Serves as a training resource for the Department.
  • Maintains current Department training standards.
  • Assists department leaders in administrative duties.
