About The Position

The Public Safety Officer I - Armed position at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital involves providing security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in security or related public safety.
  • Must have completed State of Illinois 40-hour armed course with semi-automatic pistol endorsement.
  • Willingness to carry a department authorized firearm while on duty.
  • Ability to pass background investigation, drug screen, and psychological screening.

Responsibilities

  • Provides security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion.

  • Complies with and enforces all safety and security rules and regulations.
  • Performs routine responsibilities during interior and exterior patrols.
  • Assists team members, patients, and visitors by providing information and directions.
  • Ensures traffic control and monitors conduct of visitors.
  • Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence.
  • Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation.
  • Responds immediately to emergency and crisis situations.
  • Investigates incidents and completes timely and accurate reports.
  • Delivers security awareness education to team members.
  • Coordinates with law enforcement and first responder agencies.
