About The Position

The Public Safety Officer at Harrington Hospital is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves patrolling the hospital premises, monitoring entry points, and responding to incidents to maintain a secure environment. The officer will also assist local authorities in investigations and document any irregularities or incidents that occur on hospital property.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Three years of related experience and/or training in military, fire, or police/public safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide security for the safety and protection of Harrington Memorial Hospital's patients, staff, general public, and properties.
  • Patrol buildings and grounds of Harrington Memorial Hospital periodically.
  • Examine doors, windows, and other points of entry to ensure they are secure.
  • Tag and record all points of entry found unlocked or unsecured.
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering or smoking, and apprehend or expel individuals engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards and security doors left unlocked.
  • Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of hospital property.
  • Record data such as property damage and unusual occurrences.
  • Assist local authorities with investigations of incidents committed on hospital properties.
  • Report all criminal acts to the Public Safety Supervisor and/or local authorities.
  • Assist hospital staff as required to provide protection and safety to patients or other individuals.
  • Adhere to all general orders and special orders as directed by the Public Safety Supervisor.
