About The Position

The Public Safety Officer at MelroseWakefield Hospital is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of hospital assets, personnel, and visitors. This part-time role involves conducting patrols, responding to emergencies, and documenting incidents to maintain a secure environment within the hospital premises.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid state issued driver's license.
  • Proficient in communicating, reading, and writing in English.
  • Basic computer skills required.

  • Ability to assess potentially dangerous situations quickly and make sound decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal and external patrols of all facilities and grounds.
  • Respond to and report on routine and emergency calls for service, including building alarms.
  • Provide escorts to patients, visitors, and staff as needed.
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and safety hazards, taking corrective action when possible.
  • Take appropriate actions during patient crisis interventions to ensure safety.
  • Ensure all individuals on hospital property have visible identification badges.
  • Grant access to locked areas for authorized personnel and restrict access for unauthorized individuals.
  • Maintain composure under stressful circumstances and utilize de-escalation strategies.
