About The Position

The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) is seeking highly qualified candidates for the full-time position of Public Safety Manager within the Office of Public Safety. This is a sworn peace officer role, equivalent to a police command level, such as a Major. The Public Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing law enforcement and public safety training at TCSG's Department of Public Safety (DPS), as well as at TCSG campuses and Career Centers statewide. In addition, the Public Safety Manager will assist the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police with a variety of duties related to the administration and oversight of law enforcement and public safety operations across TCSG.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five (5) years of experience including supervisory and leadership experience
  • Georgia P.O.S.T. Peace Officer Certification, current and in good standing

Nice To Haves

  • Seven (7) years of supervisory and leadership experience
  • Georgia P.O.S.T. Instructor Certification
  • Master's degree
  • Experience in Crisis Intervention and Threat Assessment in higher education
  • Experience in Campus Policing
  • Training and experience in conducting Active Shooter training exercises

Responsibilities

  • Establishes behavioral intervention/threat assessment teams at WorkSource GA (WKSGA) Career Centers and provides protocol and training to team members
  • Serves as a liaison between WKSGA Career Centers and local law enforcement
  • Provides personal and workplace safety training to TCSG employees
  • Assists in development of and review of safety plans for WKSGA Career Centers
  • Serves as a liaison for WSGA/TCSG leadership with associated WKSGA Career Center landlords and tenants regarding safety plans and protocols
  • Develops and provides TCSG DPS orientation training for all new TCSG employees
  • Coordinates training for TCSG DPS peer groups to include college BIT and Clery Compliance Teams and college Chiefs of Police
  • Provides case consultation to college and WKSGA Career Centers behavior intervention/threat assessment teams
  • Conducts background and threat assessment investigations
  • Manages implementation of system wide public safety solutions/initiatives
  • Aids college police departments in planning and coordinating active shooter/violent act training to faculty, students and staff with local LE and first responder partners
