About The Position

Public Safety Dispatchers serve a vital role in the City’s services. This is a perfect opportunity to join an outstanding team and take part in a rewarding career. Dispatchers receive emergency and non-emergency calls from the public and public safety personnel by radio and telephone, dispatch police, fire, and EMS in response to the identified need and accurately document all related incidents. Position requires the dispatcher to become certified in emergency medical dispatch (EMD) for calls involving critical illness or injury, the ability to work in stressful situations, prioritize tasks, make decisions quickly and have strict attention to detail.

Requirements

  • HS diploma/GED
  • Excellent organizational, keyboarding, computing, customer service skills
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work a 12-hour shift: 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on a rotating basis, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work in stressful situations
  • Prioritize tasks
  • Make decisions quickly
  • Strict attention to detail
