About the position

NOW HIRING: TWO PART-TIME PUBLIC SAFETY ASSISTANT! One will be located in Litchfield, IL and one will be located in Jacksonville, IL. Make a difference in your community while working part-time! Each location is seeking a responsible and dedicated individual to join our team as a Public Safety Assistant. This role is ideal for retirees or individuals seeking meaningful part-time work in a community-focused setting.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with campus patrols and emergency response
• Supporting a safe, secure, and respectful environment
• Helping protect students, staff, faculty, and visitors
• Provide assistance, information and direction to staff, students and visitors
• Patrol campus parking lots and buildings, reporting maintenance needs
• Lock and unlock building classrooms and offices as needed
• Deliver emergency messages to students on campus as assigned
• Enforce parking rules and regulations on campus if required/assigned
• Provide emergency response for injured and ill persons on campus
• Assist local emergency service agencies and personnel if required
• Provide written reports of incidents that occur on-campus
• Take necessary action to maintain order on-campus pursuant to college policies
• Wear and maintain the appropriate uniform and equipment
• Prepare necessary written reports in accordance with college policy/procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 21 years old
• Valid Illinois driver's license
• Must meet criteria outlined in the Illinois Public Community College Act
• Work history of demonstrated 'people skills' in dealing with a variety of difficult circumstances

Nice-to-haves

• Some college credit
• Previous experience in law enforcement/corrections/EMS

Benefits

• Starting salary will be $18.50 per hour
• Part-time work schedule of 20 hours per week
