About The Position

The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and administering content for MHP media channels. The position will work closely with the Colonel's and the Attorney General's Office. The duties include: Identifies, proposes, and develops new initiatives and community-based strategies to positively influence and facilitate communication and relationships between MHP and the general public. May coordinate participation with other department personnel. Coordinates various media communications in partnership with the Montana Department of Justice Communications Director and Deputy Director. Writes and sends out press releases pertaining to the division. Monitors, manages, and creates content for social media channels to positively engage with the public and foster open, responsive, and ongoing communication with platform followers. Manages the Montana Highway Patrol internet and intranet websites along with the Patrol's official email accounts. Develops, implements, and updates policies, standards and procedures regarding media and community outreach for the Patrol. Plans for and prepares presentation and/or communication strategies as required. Develops and coordinates training and presentation materials for social media. Identifies training needs and assists in the implementation of training. Produces, organizes, and oversees digital content creation for projects which may include: the monthly social media newsletter, videos, interviews, and recruitment campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in public relations, communications, marketing, or journalism.
  • Two years of directly related experience.
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
