About The Position

The Public Relations Manager is responsible for managing the Agency's traditional media efforts and social media strategies. This role involves writing and distributing press releases, building relationships with local media, acting as a spokesperson, and overseeing the Agency's online presence. The manager will also train staff on media interactions and ensure effective communication during emergencies.

Requirements

  • Three to five years public relations, social media and marketing experience with proven track record of success
  • Successful management of complex projects and initiatives
  • Supervisory experience, three to five years preferred
  • Professional appearance and experience representing Agency in front of audiences (live and on camera)
  • Must be able to work effectively with people with diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance provider
  • Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens

Responsibilities

  • Manage traditional media efforts for the Agency
  • Write and continuously modify the public relations/media pitch plan
  • Write and strategically distribute press releases
  • Create relationships with all local media outlet representatives and pitch story ideas on a regular basis
  • Manage the unpaid media tracking report
  • Act as spokesperson for GESMV with the media, as assigned
  • Provide guidance and preparation for other Agency staff to serve as spokespersons
  • Be on-call 24/7 for any Agency/media-related emergency
  • Train and assist other GESMV staff who may be speaking with the media
  • Read all pertinent local print publications
  • Monitor all local electronic media outlets
  • Follow pertinent national PR publications
  • Regularly scan GII & Easterseals websites to stay abreast of important issues
  • Implement all social media efforts for the Agency
  • Manage, edit and post all Agency blogs
  • Monitor, analyze, post and engage in conversations on behalf of the Agency
  • Respond to all 'contact us' inquiries to the Agency via GESMV.org
  • Coordinate events such as GESMV Annual Awards Celebration, Open Houses, Grand openings/ribbon cuttings, Donation drives and initiatives, and Press conferences
