About The Position

The School of Fine Arts and Communication and the Division of Communication seeks an Adjunct faculty in Public Relations and/or Strategic Communication. A successful candidate will teach part time across our programs (BA, BS, and MA) in Public Relations. We seek colleagues who are collaborative, embraces digital media, cultural diversity, and has a global perspective. In addition to excellence in teaching, we desire faculty who have experience in industry and bring professional experience to the program. Finally, we seek faculty who will adhere to our commitment to the integration of faith and learning.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Communication, public relations, strategic communication or related field is highly desired.
  • Candidates with a M.A. in Communication or related field will be considered for undergraduate programs.
  • Prior teaching experience in courses such as media ecology, digital and social media, campaigns and cases, crisis communication, public relations strategy, PR research, etc.
  • Demonstrated record of professional integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated success and/or aptitude for remote, hybrid, and face-to-face instruction.

Nice To Haves

  • Member or Associate Member of PRSA (Public Relations Society of America).
  • Evidence of research production through presentations at conferences and publications in relevant journals.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring students in internship and practicum work.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and management skills.
  • Teaching and research strengths which complement current curriculum.
  • Professional experience in public relations, strategic communication, media relations, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Teach part time across BA, BS, and MA programs in Public Relations.
  • Demonstrate teaching ability in public relations and strategic communication classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Contribute to a positive working environment and work collaboratively with colleagues and community.
  • Express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and affirm the Articles of Faith and theological commitments.
  • Commit to working with a diverse population of students.
