About The Position

Member of the Marketing, Foundation, and Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) team, the Public Relations and Outreach Specialist leads outreach and media efforts for brand engagement and patient acquisition in the community. The Specialist serves as the lead organizer for all Samaritan-sponsored community outreach events, overseeing planning and logistics, developing marketing and promotional plans, and coordinating staff representation or attendance. The Specialist manages the sponsorship program and associated budget; creates promotional content across multiple platforms; and acts as a public outreach liaison to establish new partnerships and maintain existing ones. Responsible for ordering and inventory management of promotional products and distribution of promotional items. Additionally, the Specialist serves as a liaison with local media outlets to collaborate, plan, organize, and produce content for weekly media interviews and other media requests. The role will canvass new opportunities to leverage local media outlets and work as a primary contact for media engagement. This role supports brand identity for the entire healthcare system and awareness through outreach and public relations promotional campaigns and assists in developing and implementing marketing strategies and tactics to achieve organizational objectives. The Specialist develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; assists with writing, coordinating, and producing hospital publications; and distributes and responds to a variety of marketing and public relations materials, including brochures, flyers, direct mail, invitations, and other material. Works in extremely fast-paced, multi-faceted office setting with multiple activities/projects/special events occurring simultaneously. Interfaces regularly with visitors and staff from all levels of the organization, including donors, administration, volunteers, physicians, media and patients/families. Must be able to prioritize projects, manage time and adapt quickly to change with minimal supervision; work comfortably both independently and as a member of the team; and take initiative to be actively involved and updated on departmental/organizational activities.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field.
  • Two to Four years of relevant experience/training in Marketing and/or public relations.
  • Demonstrated progressive administrative and project management experience required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheet and graphics software, with minimum typing speed of 60 wpm.
  • Ability to compose correspondence and marketing content and proof copy.
  • High quality and/or quantity of typing, grammar and composition of correspondence.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Detail attentiveness required.
  • Ability to independently take initiative and exercise good judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under deadline pressures and to simultaneously handles multiple assignments and projects with speed and accuracy.
  • Professional maturity that daily sets the tone in carrying out the responsibilities of the position.
  • High degree of honesty, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to recall and manage large amounts of information.
  • Ability to work with individuals in a tactful diplomatic manner that enhances the image of the office.

  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends at hospital and/or community events.
