The Public Policy Advisor I role at ALLETE involves providing analysis and support in the development and communication of the company's positions on public policy issues. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in political science, public policy, business management, economics, or a related field.
• No prior experience required, but experience in state or federal government or public policy development is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide analysis in the development and communication of Company positions on public policy issues.
• Maintain general knowledge of legislative, economic, and environmental regulatory processes and stakeholder positions.
• Assess the impact of emerging and proposed regulation and legislation.
• Develop communications for governmental and regulatory bodies.
• Help coordinate stakeholder engagement processes.
• Support the Company's participation in state regulatory processes.
• Provide information for internal and external stakeholders about policy-related issues.
• Analyze possible solutions using standard procedures and solve a range of straightforward problems.
