About The Position

The City of Tallahassee is seeking candidates for the position of Public Infrastructure Technician I, II, and III within the Underground Utilities & Public Infrastructure Department. Requirements

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent recognized certificate.
  • Valid Class E State driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • Obtain a commercial learner's permit (CLP) within three months of appointment.
  • For Technician II and III, possession of a Class A State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and relevant endorsements is required.
  • Experience in construction and/or maintenance of streets and drainage infrastructure, with specific years of experience required for each technician level.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in Maintenance of Traffic, Confined Space, Excavation, Trenching and Shoring for Technician II and III.
  • Florida Stormwater Associations Level 1 and Level 2 Operators certifications for Technician II and III respectively.
  • Leon County Inmate Supervisory certification for designated positions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual labor in the construction, operation, and maintenance of public works infrastructure.
  • Assist in the operation of heavy equipment and tools related to street and drainage maintenance.
  • Follow safety protocols and regulations during all work activities.
  • Work under supervision and progressively take on more complex tasks as skills develop.
  • Provide direction to laborers when required, especially at the Technician III level.
