About The Position

The position involves supporting the Bureau of HIV/AIDS Epidemiology through various activities related to HIV surveillance programs. The incumbent will monitor data submissions, assess data quality, and ensure timely reporting of HIV diagnoses in New York State. The role also includes field surveillance for suspected HIV cases and other related duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and one year of relevant experience in health, human service, or community-based organization.
  • Associate's degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience.
  • Five years of relevant experience in a related field.
  • Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with public health surveillance and data collection via medical record review and interviewing.
  • Professional experience interacting with medical professionals.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Experience with basic SAS, MS Excel, or Access.
  • Experience working with highly confidential data.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the submission of Medical Provider HIV/AIDS and Partner Contact Report Forms.
  • Assess data quality and completeness of received and entered forms.
  • Follow up with delinquent reporting providers.
  • Ensure the timeliness, adequacy, and completeness of surveillance data for HIV diagnoses reporting.
  • Participate in field surveillance for suspected HIV cases.
  • Perform other appropriate related duties.
