About The Position

The Public Health Nutritionist II role focuses on providing nutritional counseling and breastfeeding support to participants in the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. The position involves working with high-risk prenatal and postpartum women and children under five, developing follow-up plans, and engaging in community outreach and education. The role emphasizes collaboration, adaptability, and a commitment to public health, with staff trained to respond to public health emergencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or higher degree in nutrition, nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition.
• Three or more years of professional experience in public health nutrition or community health nutrition.

Nice To Haves

• Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (R.D./R.D.N).
• At least one year of experience providing nutrition education.
• Demonstrated ability to implement public health interventions.
• Content expertise in nutrition related to women, infants, and children.
• Comfort using Motivational Interviewing for nutrition counseling.
• Familiarity or experience with the WIC Program.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutritional counseling and breastfeeding support to WIC program participants.
• Work with high-risk prenatal and postpartum women and children under five.
• Develop follow-up plans for nutritionally high-risk clients.
• Participate in outreach and education efforts with community partners.
• Respond to public health emergencies as needed.
