About The Position

The Public Health Nursing Consultant 1 position is an entry-level role responsible for providing professional public health nursing consulting services under general supervision. The consultant will perform advisory services and nursing consultation to healthcare facilities and providers, ensuring compliance with state and federal health regulations. This role involves evaluating healthcare practices, monitoring compliance, and providing training to the public on communicable disease prevention and emergency preparedness.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing.
• Three years of full-time increasingly responsible professional nursing work experience.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee.
• A valid motor vehicle license may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Compiles findings from surveys and investigations of healthcare facilities and providers.
• Determines compliance with state and federal rules and regulations.
• Reviews medical information and records to assess quality of care.
• Conducts document reviews and observations to identify non-compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Identifies common source outbreaks and reports to supervisory staff.
• Provides training to the public in prevention of communicable diseases.
• Analyzes data to define existing problems and prevent disease spread.
• Functions as a member of a Public Health team to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Coordinates and plans team surveys of healthcare facilities.
• Maintains open communication with community partners and healthcare providers.
