Public Health Nurse (RN or LPN)
About The Position
The DeKalb County Health Department is seeking a full time (37.5 hours per week) Public Health Nurse. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, provides direct patient care within various public health programs. Responsibilities Works in the Family Planning program, assisting with exams, pregnancy testing, as well as testing and treating infections. Provides extensive patient education related to birth control choices (including long-acting methods) and sexually transmitted infections. Assists with procedures such as IUD or implant insertions or removals. Provides non-judgmental care to our patients. Assists with communicable disease investigations and reporting. Provides nursing professional services to various programs as needed in the Community Health and Prevention Division. Requirements Requires current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. One year experience in health care or community services setting required. Previous experience in public health (especially in women's health) preferred. Ability to be organized, flexible, problem solve and be part of a team. Excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly establish and maintain positive relationships with the public and employees. May require some early evening hours. Requirements
