A non-merit vacancy exists in the Department of Health and Human Services, Maternal Child Health, Infants and Toddlers Program. Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.   • Provides nursing care, health assessments, health guidance, health education, and referral services to individuals, families, groups, and institutions.
  • Provides and assists in the provision of patient case management and monitoring.
  • Assess and monitors patients' physical and mental states of health and determines need for community based resources.
  • Establishes nursing care priorities and coordinates the care with other resources.
  • Monitors the progress of the patient care plan.
  • Oversees and evaluates home-based services.
  • Ensures compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
  • Assists physicians and others in health clinics.
  • Monitors and reports on patients' care plan progress.
  • Conducts home visits and renders preventive nursing care.
  • Performs various health screenings.
  • Provides health screening education and counseling in the areas of diseaseprevention, health maintenance, and mental health.
  • Participates in the instruction, orientation, and oversight of new public health nurses,nursing assistants, volunteers, and others.
  • Prepares and maintains nursing records and reports.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • OR
  • Graduation from an accredited diploma school of nursing,plus at least one year of professional nursing experience. (Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.)
  • OR
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate in arts degree in nursing,plusat least two years' professional nursing experience. (Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.)
  • Possession of a valid license to practice as a professional registered nurse, issued by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses, is required at the time of appointment.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
  • Experience working with a Maternal and Child Health Program and/or Infants and Toddlers Program
  • Experience working with families of young children with special needs
  • Experience providing early childhood intervention and preschool special education system of services
