About The Position

A vacancy exists in the Department of Health and Human Services, Clinical Services. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • OR Graduation from an accredited diploma school of nursing plus at least one year of professional nursing experience.
  • OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate in arts degree in nursing plus at least two years of professional nursing experience.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice as a professional registered nurse, issued by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care, health assessments, health guidance, health education, and referral services to individuals, families, groups, and institutions.
  • Administers prescribed medical treatments and emergency care to patients.
  • Provides and assists in the provision of patient case management and monitoring.
  • Assesses and monitors patients' physical and mental states of health and determines need for community-based resources.
  • Establishes nursing care priorities and coordinates the care with other resources.
  • Monitors the progress of the patient care plan.
  • Oversees and evaluates home-based services.
  • Ensures compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
  • Assists physicians and others in health clinics.
  • Monitors and reports on patients' care plan progress.
  • Conducts home visits and renders preventive nursing care.
  • Performs various health screenings.
  • Provides health screening education and counseling in the areas of disease prevention, health maintenance, and mental health.
  • Participates in the instruction, orientation, and oversight of new public health nurses, nursing assistants, volunteers, and others.
  • Prepares and maintains nursing records and reports.
