About The Position

The Diagnostic Virologist will lead the molecular virology team at the Alaska State Virology Laboratory in Fairbanks, AK. This role focuses on monitoring viruses and diseases relevant to public health, developing diagnostic tests and protocols, and contributing to improved public health outcomes. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a team to conduct diagnostic testing for viral infections, report results, and develop new diagnostic tests while adhering to safety and quality guidelines.

Requirements

• Experience in the virology field.
• Practical expertise in a diagnostic laboratory.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Medical Technology, Microbiology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Biological Science, or Chemistry.
• Certification by an HHS-approved organization such as ASCP, ABB, etc., or eligibility to sit for board examination upon hire.
