About The Position

The position involves assisting in the oral health management of all clinic patients, obtaining baseline oral hygiene assessment data, and recording patient-hygienist transactions in the dental record. The role includes providing oral health education, clinical oral hygiene services, and integrating patient care with other healthcare professionals. The individual will also organize preventive oral health presentations, participate in quality assurance programs, and maintain compliance with infection control and safety policies.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or equivalent.
  • Must be licensed to practice Oral Hygiene in Pennsylvania.
  • Public Health Certified Required.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • 2-4 years' experience as a Dental Hygienist.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the oral health management of all clinic patients.
  • Obtains baseline oral hygiene assessment data based upon accepted principles of oral hygiene and periodontal care.
  • Records patient-hygienist transactions as they occur in the patient's dental record.
  • Provides oral health education and appropriate individual counseling for all center dental patients.
  • Provides clinical oral hygiene services including dental prophylaxis, scaling, sealant application, and fluoride application.
  • Integrates appropriate patient dental hygiene care with other health care professionals.
  • Organizes and performs preventive oral health presentations at on-site and off-site locations.
  • Assists in the provision of technical assistance and health education in the community.
  • Participates in the quality assurance program of the Dental Department.
  • Performs independent procedures as delegated and directed by a dentist.
  • Assists in the maintenance of all Dental Department areas in compliance with directives and policies.
  • Receives and places necessary telephone calls consistent with professional matters.
  • Assists with various clinical and administrative functions of the center.
  • Ensures the proper disposal of all contaminated materials.
  • Complies with the center's Exposure Control Plan.
  • Travels to other sites, when necessary, to meet operational needs.
  • Responsible for personal compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and protocols.
  • Performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational goals.
