About The Position
The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is seeking a highly analytical and mission-driven Epidemiology Investigator 3 to join the Center for Public Health Excellence. Duties include: Lead and conduct advanced epidemiologic research and data analysis related to chronic disease, healthcare access, and public health priorities. Design research methodologies, surveys, and data collection tools. Analyze complex datasets using statistical software (e.g., SAS, Tableau, Epi-Info). Develop reports, dashboards, maps, and data visualizations to communicate findings. Monitor health trends and identify emerging issues impacting communities. Support program evaluation, policy analysis, and grant reporting requirements. Ensure data quality control and confidentiality compliance. Provide technical guidance on data collection methods and statistical interpretation. Respond to internal and external data requests and present findings to stakeholders. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 33, Step 1 of the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule ($33.52 per hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($35.15) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
Requirements
- Completion of graduate core program in public health or preventive medicine; 3 courses or 9 mos. exp. in use of statistical computer software packages; 6 mos. exp. as epidemiology investigator with local or federal health agency; must be able to provide own transportation.
- OR 6 mos. exp. as Epidemiology Investigator 2, 65762; must be able to provide own transportation.
- OR Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
- Official educational transcripts are required for all post-high school educational accomplishments, coursework or degrees claimed on the application. Applicants will be required to submit an official transcript prior to receiving a formal offer of employment.
