About The Position

As a Public Health Consultant in the Medical Director's Office you will support operations of the Continuing Education (CE) programs. Priorities will include coordinating, conducting, evaluating, and maintaining the continuing nursing education (CNE) and continuing medical education (CME) programs while ensuring adherence to state laws and national approval status from accrediting organizations. Requirements

  • 6 months experience in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting, to include experience in program evaluation, grant review, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating &/or working collaboratively with coalitions or groups AND completion of graduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field AND must be able to provide own transportation.
  • OR 18 months experience in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting, to include experience in program evaluation, grant review, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating &/or working collaboratively with coalitions or groups AND completion of undergraduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field AND must be able to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and attend quarterly/monthly meetings
  • Design and update procedural and orientation manuals
  • Maintain CE reports to meet state and CE approver requirements
  • Answer requests for specialized assistance about continuing education programs
  • Obtain and coordinate speakers for training sessions
  • Assist supervisor in determining educational needs (e.g., reviews feedback from meetings with professional nursing organizations, analyzes course evaluations) of local health department nursing staff.
  • Provide training and education through in-person sessions, webinars, and conferences.
  • Research and compile educational resources for use by consultants and local health departments (e.g., health commissioners’ conferences, environmental principles course).
  • Ensure availability of necessary training equipment (e.g., transport and set up equipment).
  • Evaluate outcomes of educational programs.
