About The Position

The Public Health Community Health Preparedness Coordinator is responsible for enhancing the Public Health Division’s ability to prevent, respond to, and recover from public health threats such as disease outbreaks and natural disasters. This role involves planning, coordinating, and implementing preparedness programs, reviewing risk assessments, and working to develop strategies with Cherokee Nation Emergency Management to strengthen community resilience and emergency readiness. The Coordinator works closely with community partners, Public Health staff, and Emergency Management to ensure a collaborative and effective response to public health emergencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university in Public Health, Emergency Management, Nursing or a related field; or six (6) years of related experience; or an equivalent of combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3 years in experience in Public Health, Emergency Management, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
  • Empirical and Practical Reasoning.
  • Problem/situational analysis.

  • Ability to handle stressful situations while making sound decisions
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
  • Must be willing to undergo Incident Command System (ICS) training if not already in possession of ICS certifications.
  • The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

  • Previous experience in preparedness planning or emergency response coordination is preferred.
