About The Position

Alpha Omega is looking for a looking for Programmer/Analyst to join our talented and innovative team supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. The Public Health Analyst provides on-site support to CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP), the Division of HIV Prevention (DHP) is charged with preventing HIV infection and reducing the incidence of HIV-related illness and death. The overarching objective of the contract is to assist DHP in addressing its public health mission by providing data management, data governance, data analysis, and data dissemination support to strengthen the nationwide capacity to monitor the HIV epidemic. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biostatistics and at least 3 years of relevant experience or master’s degree in a similar field of study.
  • Understanding of security protocols for accessing government systems.
  • Advanced SAS programming skills (certification preferred) & GIS geocoding; - Minimum 2 years’ experience
  • Ability to analyze data using advanced statistical methods
  • Data cleansing and data aggregation experience required
  • MS Project, MS Office/teams proficiency.
  • SAS and SQL.
  • Strong technical skills including report development and data management, as well as scientific programming and experience querying large databases in analytical software

Responsibilities

  • Prepare data for national, state, and dependent areas for HIV prevalence for the Annual AtlasPlus update using advanced SAS programming
  • Provide statistical, methodological, and epidemiological support for CDC in syndromic surveillance, epidemiology
  • Develop analysis plans for epidemiologic studies and conduct data analysis using national or site-specific data sets.
  • Perform statistical analysis (i.e., descriptive, predictive, regression modeling). The analysis will be used to develop scientific-technical reports or manuscripts.
  • Contribute to and edit publications and technical reports that include comprehensive literature reviews, methodology, and analysis plans. These reports may focus on policy, surveillance, economics, research, and other subjects that are tied to key public health issues as determined by CDC.
  • Rapidly respond within 48- to 72-hours, as specified, to CDC requests for data analyses.
  • Conduct research, comprehensive literature reviews, and data analysis to determine the best practices for maintaining, updating, enhancing, or implementing syndromic methodologies.
