About The Position

The Public Assistance Specialist position at the Florida Department of Health in Broward County is a highly responsible role focused on managing the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP). The incumbent will conduct eligibility interviews, manage client files, and ensure compliance with health department policies while maintaining confidentiality. This position requires on-site work and is open only to current Department of Health employees.

Requirements

• Willingness to work beyond normal hours in emergencies.
• Experience using Electronic Health Records such as HMS, QFLOW, and Provide Enterprise.
• Experience working in an ADAP Program.
• Experience interacting with customers in person or via telephone.
• Experience conducting data entry.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with HIV/AIDS, STDs, and TB related issues.
• Experience dealing with confidential information or medical records.
• Experience providing case management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Part B Core eligibility interviews and ADAP enrollments.
• Screen for financial eligibility and review medical laboratory reports.
• Provide clients with Notice of Eligibility and Ineligibility.
• Set up and maintain client files, including scanning documents and updating client data in various systems.
• Enter lab results into the ADAP database and track client eligibility issues.
• Assist with quality assurance on eligibility packets using validation tools.
• Sort, organize, and scan client eligibility packets into the system daily.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
