The Public Arts Coordinator is a part-time role within the Cultural Affairs Department, responsible for supporting various functions related to public art initiatives. This position involves professional, curatorial, and administrative tasks, working closely under the Director of Cultural Affairs to enhance community engagement through art-related programs and outreach campaigns.

  • Provides professional and administrative support to the Department of Cultural Affairs.
  • Creates and edits public art marketing and advertising documents and other publications using desktop publishing software.
  • Designs and prepares web pages for the department's website.
  • Coordinates outreach and engagement campaigns with community stakeholders, non-profit organizers, and inclusive partners.
  • Manages various digital/social media platforms to engage and communicate with users through postings and public art campaigns.
  • Assists in the coordination and implementation of a wide variety of art-related programs, including community arts, arts education, grants, and marketing.
  • Coordinates administering art-related contracts and/or grants specific to the arts.
  • Assists in the evaluation of funding proposals from art organizations and individual artists.
  • Supports the grant application process by helping with outreach, reviewing submissions, and tracking deadlines.
  • Aids in monitoring grant-funded projects to ensure successful execution and proper reporting.
  • Manages the logistics for art exhibitions, from the initial call to artists through to the installation and event.
  • Prepares agenda items, schedules meetings, and attends department meetings, including the monthly Public Art Commission meeting.
  • Manages cataloging and tracking artwork collections.
  • Assists with and manages special projects as directed.
  • Associate's Degree in Fine Art, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Arts Administration, Event Planning, Marketing, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience involving art, design, or event management.
  • A valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Part-time work schedule
  • Competitive hourly pay of $24.31
