About The Position

The Public Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in various public areas of the ship, ensuring a pleasant environment for guests and crew. This role involves operating cleaning equipment, using appropriate cleaning solutions, and performing a variety of cleaning tasks throughout the vessel. The attendant must also interact positively with guests and fellow employees, embodying the Royal Way Experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum one-year previous cleaning experience, preferably in a 4- or 5-star hotel.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and equipment use.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling.
  • Ability to apply customer service skills when interacting with guests and coworkers.
  • Completion of high school or basic education equivalency preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Operate steam cleaning equipment, scrapers, brooms, and various hand and power tools.
  • Use a variety of cleaners and chemicals based on cleaning needs, mixing water and detergents as specified.
  • Clean bathrooms, elevators, offices, and crew corridors in designated areas.
  • Clean carpets, upholstery, floors, walls, ceilings, draperies, windows, and area accessories to remove dirt and damage.
  • Dust furniture and wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork; polish metal fixtures.
  • Notify management of malfunctions, safety, and maintenance issues.
  • Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment in good working order and recommend requisitions when needed.
  • Stay informed about the ship's events and functions to provide accurate information to guests.
  • Assist food service personnel in collecting soiled items and transporting them to designated areas.
  • Empty and clean wastebaskets and ashtrays, transporting trash to disposal areas.
  • Transport guests' luggage during embarkation and disembarkation.
  • Attend meetings, training, and work-related activities as required.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary pool area for guests and crew, including turf maintenance.
  • Follow procedures to open and close the pool daily and assist the Lifeguard as needed.
  • Enforce pool deck lounge chair reservation SOPs and ensure wet floors are mopped/dried.
  • Inspect deck chairs daily for condition and replace damaged items immediately.
  • Issue and track towels for guests according to the Pool Towel Policy.
  • Clean and sanitize the pool area and spa showerheads monthly, following cleaning schedules for deep cleaning.
  • Monitor, clean, and sanitize children swimming pool life jackets daily.
  • Perform related duties as required.
