About The Position

The Division of Family and Community Services is seeking to hire a position to perform comprehensive, detailed, analytical, and investigative case record reviews on State and Federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) cases for the Bureau. This position conducts case reviews within an assigned geographical location for compliance with Federal SNAP regulations, State regulations and Department of Human Services (DHS) rules, policies, and procedures and conducts interviews with public assistance recipients, responsible relatives, and collateral contacts to verify information.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in one of the behavioral sciences.
  • Requires two (2) years of professional experience in casework or related area.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of professional experience administering a supplemental nutrition assistance program.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience working with public assistance policies and programs including a supplemental nutrition assistance program.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience working with public aid assistance program policies, rules, and procedures, such as those associated with Federal and State Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP).
  • Two (2) years of professional experience utilizing public assistance interviewing techniques.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience examining and evaluating data in accordance with established criteria.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience presenting and preparing clear, concise, and accurate reports.

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive, detailed, analytical, and investigative case record reviews within an assigned geographical location to determine compliance with Federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program regulations, State regulations and Department of Human Services (DHS) rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Conducts interviews with public assistance recipients, responsible relatives, and collateral contacts.
  • Independently constructs the Quality Control (QC) case file using the State’s Integrated Eligibility System, Adobe, and a Quality Control database system while applying the Illinois Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program policies and Federal Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) QC manual to derive a conclusion as to the results of the review.
  • Prepares narrative reports on case review findings using Microsoft Office programs for submittal to the Bureau and/or U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Services (USDA-FNS).
  • Reviews, studies, and applies Federal and State Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) policies, procedures, and regulations as well as DHS policies, rules and procedures governing public assistance programs included in the review sample.
  • Participates in special programs required to test procedures, methods, and/or systems designed to improve department regulations prior to permanent implementation.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned with are reasonably within the scope of duties that are enumerated above.
