About The Position

The Public Affairs Manager at Cox Communications will lead public affairs initiatives in the Southern Arizona market, focusing on building a positive community image and fostering relationships with local leaders and organizations. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in Communications, Journalism, Business, Public Affairs, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong presentation skills.
  • Experience managing philanthropy efforts and charitable giving activities.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and sustaining strategic community programs.
  • Experience in external communications, including social media, writing, and copyediting.
  • Experience working collaboratively to deliver upon company and department initiatives.
  • Experience managing team projects.

Nice To Haves

  • BS/BA in Communications, Journalism, Business, Public Affairs, etc.
  • Existing community relationships.
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) speaking.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement community programs that positively impact the business and engage employees.
  • Manage community relations programs aligned with corporate strategies, including youth, technology, education, veterans, conservation, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Support business goals by raising community awareness of Cox products and services.
  • Serve as the point of contact for Public Affairs initiatives in the market.
  • Identify partnership opportunities that benefit Cox Business, Marketing, and Residential Sales.
  • Implement corporate giving strategy and develop strategic community partnerships.
  • Manage philanthropy efforts and charitable giving activities, including oversight of the Cox Charities Foundation.
  • Drive employee giving initiatives and manage employee volunteer efforts.
  • Manage Public Affairs supported events and sponsorships in the market.
  • Handle high-priority customer and government relations issues in coordination with the Government Affairs team.
  • Develop and implement tactical plans to support public affairs goals.
  • Coordinate PSA inventory across channels.
  • Analyze market trends and communicate appropriate responses.
  • Responsible for budgeting for public, community, and media contributions.
  • Motivate and coach others to achieve department and company goals.
