About The Position

Then you might be the perfect fit as a Public Advocate Investigator I in the Elizabethtown Trial Office of the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy. The Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy is the Commonwealth’s largest criminal defense firm and is tasked with representing poor people who are charged with both felonies and misdemeanors. The ideal candidate for this position will have strong planning and organization skills. Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), ability to work in a team environment, and attention to detail are crucial. Compassion for our clients and commitment to our mission are musts. Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Two years experience in law enforcement, general investigation or a related field of investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
  • Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting investigations on behalf of our attorneys and our clients.
  • Locating and interviewing clients, witnesses, and prospective witnesses.
  • Conducting background searches.
  • Serving Subpoenas.
  • Preparing exhibits and testifying in court.
  • Searching for, preserving, and transmitting physical evidence for examination.
  • Locating and obtaining documents.
  • Writing reports and memorandum.
  • Assisting the team in formulation of the defense theory.
  • Other duties as assigned or needed.
