Touchmark in the West Hills, Portland's prestigious full-service retirement community, is looking for a professional, high-energy Pub Server - Bartender with excellent communication skills and an affinity for senior clientele. The Pub Server - Bartender will work in our Swede Hill Pub serving beer, wine, classic cocktails and food to residents. This individual will greet customers, learn about their preferences, get to know the regulars including our residents and their families, answer questions, recommend menu items, and serve beverages. The start time will vary slightly but will end by 9:00 pm (no late nights) and while this is a non-gratuity position, the salary range is $18.00 - $21.00 an hour, depending on experience. Days range between Monday - Saturday.

  • Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.
  • Planning drink menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials.
  • Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.
  • Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
  • Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked.
  • Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
  • Handling transactions, ensuring charges are accurate.
  • Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
  • Developing new cocktail recipes.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Additional education, training, certificates, or experience may be required.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Positive, engaging personality and professional appearance.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong task and time management abilities.
  • Eye for detail and understanding of drink mixing tools and techniques.
  • Have at least one to two years' experience working as a bartender in a high-volume setting, and the ability to maintain a safe, controlled bar environment.
  • Possess a valid food handler's card and OLCC certification.
  • Have experience using a computer and/or POS system.
  • Be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and stay on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Have the ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude when dealing with residents, family members, visitors, and team members.
