The Publix Technology Services (PTS) Support Technician will provide IT technical support for the Charlotte and Mooresville, NC area to include primarily the repair and preventive maintenance (encompassing servers, desktop computers, printing, point of sale, barcode scanners, weighing devices, and networking systems), but also occasionally the installation and lifecycle of IT hardware. This position supports Publix retail stores and involves traveling between them to perform on-site work. Shifts for this position are variable, based on the demands of current projects, and will involve overnight, evening, early morning, and/or daytime work depending on the task. Workdays will vary and include working a weekend rotation. This position will augment support in other areas when needed.

Requirements

  • Must live in or near the Charlotte or Mooresville, NC area, or be willing to relocate there upon acceptance of the position.
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year of PC/Technical support experience.
  • Basic understanding of IT hardware and industry standards.
  • Basic understanding of Windows Operating Systems.
  • Basic understanding of thermal and laser printing.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Cable management and troubleshooting skills.
  • Computer and electronic equipment installation skills.
  • Must be at least 20 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver license and maintain an excellent driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to be on call, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to climb and work on a ladder.
  • Ability to crouch, kneel and work in confined areas for extended periods.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Flexible and able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently on multiple projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in the field of electronics or Computer Science such as Cisco Certification, A+ Certification, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, HP Certification, or Lexmark Certification.
  • 3+ years of PC/Technical support experience.
  • Basic understanding of Active Directory.
  • Experience using problem reporting and ticketing systems.
  • Understanding of the Publix retail environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT technical support for the Charlotte and Mooresville, NC area.
  • Perform repair and preventive maintenance on servers, desktop computers, printing, point of sale, barcode scanners, weighing devices, and networking systems.
  • Occasionally install and manage the lifecycle of IT hardware.
  • Travel between Publix retail stores to perform on-site work.
