About The Position

Summary The Vehicle Attendant is primarily responsible for performing routine maintenance by repairing, inspecting and cleaning vehicles, engine operated equipment and associated mobile equipment. This is a part-time position for internal carpenter union employees only. Illinois Central College has 3 locations (Peoria, East Peoria, and Pekin) and Grounds Attendants rotate among these locations. Compensation for the Vehicle Attendant is $21.74 an hour. This posting will remain open until filled. Essential Functions This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Provide daily outstanding student services as defined by the College Provide Customer Service to the College students and employees by conducting vehicle maintenance on cars, trucks, buses, vans, mowing equipment, snow removal equipment and other associated mobile equipment. Train in the vehicle maintenance area. Inspect, clean, and maintain all college equipment and vehicles and maintain in proper working conditions as assigned. Document work order information by using methods with the computerized maintenance management system Plan materials and tools required to perform the duties assigned Conduct all work by following safe work practices to protect everyone which may be affected by the work being accomplished Assist others in Facilities with response to snow removal and emergency tasks as assigned. Perform related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • One year of direct experience working in vehicle maintenance OR three years of related experience in a Facilities Services function.
  • Knowledge of basic and safe operation of general maintenance and vehicle repair tools.
  • The ability to satisfy requirements for insurability in operative College vehicles and equipment.
  • The ability to possess a valid class D driver's license.
  • The ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • The ability to regularly work inside and outside in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • College level coursework or technical training in a specific area of vehicle maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform individually assigned work with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities
