About The Position

In a temporary status, performs work to supplement full-time staff as defined in the manager's approved request to hire the position.
Part-Time Store Associate:
Under the general supervision of SEPTA Store Supervisor, AIDS with the daily operation of The SEPTA Store. GREETS customers and ASSISTS with purchase of goods. STOCKS merchandise. BUILDS custom model vehicles
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs duties to either: (a.) complete a specific project as defined by the hiring manager; or (b.) fill in and perform the duties of a regular posiiton, which is either vacant or the incumbent is out sick or on some other type of leave.
Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well ass all applicable job safety responsibilities.  Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees.  Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
Performs other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
GREETS customers and PROVIDES product recommendations.
RESPONDS to customer inquiries.
INFORMS customers about sales, promotions, discounts, and store policies.
RECEIVES payment for purchases and PROCESSES returns using Shopify Point of Sale (POS) system.
PROCESSES phone orders and PREPARES for shipping.
ASSISTS with e-commerce store including preparing merchandise for sale and shipping.
STOCKS merchandise and CREATES displays for windows and walls.
INVENTORIES and MONITORS sales floor.
CHECKS new arrival merchandise and PROVIDES documentation to management for processing.
BUILDS HO scale model trains and trolleys, including detailed painting, prepare them for purchase.
PERFORMS other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• One year of customer service experience in a retail setting.
• Must be customer-friendly and possess a desire to assist others.
• Must possess effective communication skills.
• Must pass a basic math test.
• Must be experienced in HO scale model construction/preparation.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of e-commerce preferred.
• Knowledge of Shopify POS system preferred.
• General knowledge of SEPTA services, modes of transportation, and counties served.
