About the position
The School Crossing Guard is responsible for ensuring the safe crossing of children to and from school under the supervision of the Ogden City Crossing Guard Coordinator. This position requires individuals who can respond to the job site within 10-15 minutes of notification and who are available every day school is in session. The role involves working approximately three hours a day, with 1.5 hours in the morning before school and 1.5 hours in the afternoon after school ends.
Responsibilities
- Prepare school crossing zone using required equipment
- Cross children safely while watching traffic
- Remove crossing equipment (process is repeated two times a day)
- Travel to and from different locations throughout the city
- Promote and follow the City's mission statement, values, and expectations
Requirements
- Crossing guard or traffic control experience or experience working with children preferred, but not required
- Must be available Monday through Friday, mornings, and afternoons during school hours
- Must provide own transportation to and from job sites
- Must have valid Utah Driver's license
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of current Utah traffic law; emergency procedures are desired but not required
Benefits
- Rate of pay: $16.00 per hour
- Work approximately three hours a day, up to five days a week
