About The Position

The pharmacist is responsible for ensuring proper preparation, review, verification, and dispensation of prescribed medication. The pharmacist provides positive customer service experience in accordance with the organization’s mission. The pharmacist will support efficient workflows in receiving and dispensing medications and inventory. The pharmacist will oversee and direct the pharmacy technician staff and provide education to patients to enhance customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) required
  • Current State of Colorado license to practice pharmacy
  • At least 1 year experience working as a pharmacist preferred
  • 340B experience preferred
  • Experience working in FQHC, or Community Health Center preferred
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Business acumen with a strong attention to detail, quality focus, and legal compliance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to interact with a variety of individuals at various levels under stressful circumstances while exercising sound judgement, tact, and diplomacy
  • Ability to work with people in various environments
  • Experience using appropriate technology and Microsoft Office tools for work-based communication

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders, detecting therapeutic incompatibilities
  • Packages, labels, and dispenses medication
  • Counsels and assists patients in understanding how to properly take their prescribed medications
  • Works with multidisciplinary health care team to provide drug information and assist in monitoring patient drug therapies.
  • Develops clinical staff’s pharmacological knowledge by participating in provider meetings and training health care professionals, residents, and students
  • Responsible for supervising and directing technicians’ workflows, including verifying prescription entries, preparation of medications, and labeling of medications
  • Maintain and oversee accurate inventory of medications
  • Protect patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Ensures deposits are completed and cash drawer is balanced, as directed by finance.
  • Comply with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the Food and Drug Administration
  • Comply with federal laws regarding the 340B drug program
  • Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA regulations
  • Maintain records for controlled substances
  • Remove outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory
  • Maintain current registration of State and DEA licenses.
  • Respects diverse views and approaches, and contributes to maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility, and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors.
  • Attend required internal meetings, trainings, and events.
