As a PT Outbound Freight Handler, you will be responsible for loading and unloading freight onto and off of equipment, as well as assisting in the recouping of damaged freight. This includes preparing, sweeping, inspecting, and cleaning trailers before loading. You will utilize safe lifting techniques and proper freight handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, drum trucks, pallet jacks, and rollers. Key tasks involve weighing and dimensioning shipments for proper classification and handling, planning cube utilization and weight distribution, inspecting freight condition, and documenting any shortages or damage. You will also review freight bills and manifests for special instructions and exceptions, verify hazardous material descriptions and placarding, and properly block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
