About The Position

The position involves planning, preparing, and delivering live and recorded program content for the station in an entertaining and professional manner, consistent with the appropriate station format. Responsibilities include creating topical shows by gathering information from various sources, interviewing guests, and moderating discussions. The role also requires answering phone lines, writing segments, and preparing online content such as blogs and podcasts. Compliance with FCC regulations and company policies is essential, as well as promoting the company through community events and maintaining positive relationships with the audience and community.

Requirements

  • Previous on-air experience preferred.
  • Degree in Communication, Journalism, or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Ability to establish listener motivation and loyalty in the target demographic.
  • Good conversationalist, knowledgeable about current affairs, and articulate.
  • Ability to enunciate clearly and interpret and read copy fluently.
  • Ability to think spontaneously and ad-lib on air and at appearances.
  • Ability to operate mechanical functions of on-air performance, including recording and editing.
  • Ability to write and create commercial production, voiceovers, and imaging as needed.
  • Thorough knowledge of FCC rules and regulations pertaining to announcers.
  • Willingness to be coached and directed by Program Director or Consultant.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to function in a team environment.
  • Ability to work established schedules and other hours as needed.
  • Willingness to travel for promotional appearances.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver live and recorded program content for the station.
  • Prepare and create a topical show by gathering information from various sources.
  • Interview guests and public personalities, moderating panels or discussion shows.
  • Answer phone lines and interview members of the listening audience.
  • Write and read or ad-lib segments to identify the station and announce breaks and commercials.
  • Prepare online blogs and social media content, create podcasts or videos for online distribution.
  • Ensure contests and promotions comply with FCC regulations and laws.
  • Follow and enforce FCC regulations and company policies, including EAS procedures.
  • Promote the company and clients by attending community events and charity functions.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the national and local community.
  • Perform necessary technical functions of assigned air-shift, including logging engineering readings.
  • Maintain program and music logs, ensuring commercials and programs are aired as logged.
  • Record assigned commercials, promotions, or public service announcements professionally.
  • Prepare content, commercials, technical arrangements, and show elements in advance.
  • Build working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors, and the public.
  • Act professionally when representing the station.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings.
  • Report to work on time and work established schedules, with flexibility for other hours as needed.
  • Make public appearances and complete other duties as requested.
