About The Position

The PT Lane Inspector serves as an emissions inspector, performing emission inspection functions in all test positions. This role involves directing motorists, inspecting vehicles for safety and exhaust system integrity, following established inspection procedures, and operating exhaust analysis instrumentation like a dynamometer. The inspector also operates vehicles during tests, provides and explains test results to customers, instructs them on next steps, and collects documents for re-tests. Additionally, the position assists in directing and training other Lane Inspectors and performs various facility care tasks such as janitorial duties and lawn maintenance.

Requirements

Must have reliable transportation.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with the customer.
Must be 18 years of age.
Valid state driver's license with a good driving record.
Ability to contribute to a positive team environment.

Responsibilities

Serves as emissions inspector performing emission inspection functions in all test positions.
Assists in directing and training Lane Inspectors.
Directs motorists in and out of the inspection station.
Inspects vehicles for conditions affecting safety and exhaust system integrity.
Follows established emission inspection procedures in testing vehicles.
Enters appropriate vehicle information into computer and verifies vehicle data against computer data.
Operates exhaust analysis instrumentation (dynamometer).
Operates vehicles during the emissions and evaporative system test.
Provides test results to customers and explains the printout as necessary.
Instructs customers on the next step in the inspections process after test is completed.
Collects documents from customers relative to inspection re-tests.
Refers questions or comments to appropriate individuals and management if necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned such as janitorial, lawn maintenance, and other facility care tasks as required.
