About the position

The PT House Supervisor at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System is responsible for overseeing daily staff activities across all departments, ensuring quality patient care, and facilitating staff development. This role involves coordinating staffing assignments, providing training and mentorship, and addressing complex issues and complaints. The supervisor plays a critical role in patient advocacy and collaborates with healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises daily staff activities for all departments or functions.
  • Determines, coordinates, and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.
  • Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff.
  • Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Assesses and ensures quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs.
  • Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
  • Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process.
  • Plans and implements patient care and teaching based on total assessment and patient age.
  • Develops individualized care plans reflecting collaboration with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
  • Evaluates and documents patient responses; monitors changes in physiological and psychosocial status.
  • Participates and cooperates in the unit-based Quality Improvement process.
  • Supports and maintains an environment that is supportive of quality patient care based on best practices.
  • Practices and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Serves as patient and family advocate regarding privacy, autonomy, and dignity.
  • Formulates individualized teaching and educational plans based on identified learning needs.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs.

Requirements

  • Current and active Registered Nurse License in the State of Tennessee.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification.
