About The Position

This part-time role focuses on delivering exceptional service to various sales markets, including the general public, school and youth groups. As the primary contact for incoming calls, this position requires comprehensive knowledge of all Discovery Place aspects to efficiently address inquiries while optimizing up-sell opportunities. Please note that this role may involve on-call responsibilities, subject to potential needs.

Requirements

  • customer service experience and outbound sales experience is preferred.
  • To excel in this job, an individual must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating guidelines, and maintenance instructions as well as procedure manuals.
  • They must also be able to compose routine reports and correspondence with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • The individual should have the capacity to apply common sense understanding when executing instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form and to address problems by finding effective solutions.
  • Furthermore, they must be proficient in performing calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals across all units of measure.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and Excel is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills are necessary, along with prompt responsiveness to customer needs.
  • Attention to detail is crucial, as well as the ability to manage competing demands.
  • Effective collaboration with other Discovery Place departments is essential.
  • Efficient time management, adherence to instructions, meeting productivity standards, and responsiveness to management direction are expected.
  • A proactive approach to improvement and promotion of quality is important.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and deliver exceptional customer service by:
  • Answering incoming calls and handing booking appointments.
  • Acquiring knowledge of program materials and content.
  • Selling and organizing museum visits, classes, and programs for individuals and groups.
  • Managing reservations, including bookings, rescheduling, and refunds as permitted.
  • Communicating and handling conflict resolution both internally and externally.
  • Interacting professionally with customers while providing the highest level of customer service.
  • Meet sales quotas on a weekly and monthly basis by:
  • Learning and effectively articulating exhibits and programs for all museums to enhance sales opportunities.
  • Accurately reporting weekly activities to the supervisor.
  • Maintain client records through precise data entry by:
  • Inputting customer information accurately into the ticketing system.
  • Inputting customer information accurately into sales marketing materials.
  • Provide support to all Discovery Place departments by:
  • Learning and effectively articulating exhibits and programs for all museums in order to boost sales opportunities.
  • Serving as a liaison between multiple departments for external bookings.
  • Maximizing sales of featured exhibitions and films, when available, by employing upsell techniques through outbound sales calls as assigned.
  • Maximizing upsell opportunities for memberships, IMAX, and other programs.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned to this position.
