About The Position

Ball State University Dining has an opportunity for a PT Food Service Worker position. Come and join the Ball State University Dining team on the beautiful Ball State campus and help create excellent customer service experiences for students, faculty, staff and employees! This position may work up to 32.5 hours per week. Hours: (Two week) Sunday: 8a-4:30p Monday: 8a-2p Tuesday: Off Wednesday: 8a-2p Thursday: 7a-3:30p Friday: 8a-2p Saturday: Off Sunday: Off Monday: 8a-2p Tuesday: 7a-3:30p Wednesday: 8a-2p Thursday: 8a-2p Friday: Off Saturday: 8a-4:30p Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of Cashier Training Class and passing score on final test is required for positions with cashiering duties.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend all specified policies and procedures for safety, hazardous materials information, and University policies, procedures and communications.
  • No allergies to soaps, cleaning agents, oven cleaners, or other materials or environmental factors in food service, e.g., steam, dust, etc.
  • Must have clean body, teeth, hair, nails, and clothing.
  • Must be able to perform all physical and mental requirements outlined in each job duty/responsibility.
  • You must be 18 years or older.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a school cafeteria, hospital cafeteria, or similar experience in quantity food preparation and/or service.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assemble supplies and materials; set up service area and serve food as required.
  • Hand wash and store pots, pans, and food service equipment.
  • Clean equipment and work area, maintaining sanitation and safety.
  • Perform checker/cashier duties using computerized machinery, terminals, calculators, and maintain records.
  • Greet customers to ensure positive relationships.
  • Set up, operate and clean dishwashing machinery and auxiliary equipment; move dishware and equipment to proper locations.
  • Scrape and wash dishes.
  • Clean, prepare, store, and deliver fresh produce.
  • Count and record amounts of food prepared and/or served.
  • Grill or carve food as required.
  • Obtain supplies from storage areas.
  • Assist with laundry program.
  • Wait and bus tables as assigned.
  • Assign work to and direct student employees.
  • Assist cooks in preparing food.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations, including but not limited to; proper payment of food and proper procedures are followed by university employees regarding the payment of food. Report all violations immediately to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
