PT Elementary/Middle School Aftercare Assistant
About The Position
Salem Montessori School is looking for a PT Assistant for our Elementary/Middle School program! Are you a self-directed learner eager to make a significant impact in a child's life by learning and applying the Montessori method of education? Do you have a degree or experience in Education, Psychology, or related fields? Become a passionate and supportive member of our Salem Montessori School (SMS) community! Our number one priority is the well-being and development of every child. This includes the whole child - the physical, social/emotional, and cognitive. Our SMS staff members work together as part of a collaborative, caring team and serve as positive role models.
Requirements
- Ages 18 or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- CPR and First Aid Certified or willing to be certified
- Employees who are made an offer of employment will be required to pass a post-offer pre-employment background process that includes passing a Basic TB and fingerprint test, and completing an online training program. Applicants who do not pass or participate in any of this pre-employment process will have their offer of employment rescinded.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with children (preferred)

Responsibilities
- Be dependable and consistent in their ability to be physically and mentally present for the children
- Take responsibility for being proactive in problem-solving, caring for the environment, and building relationships
- Have a keen awareness and observation skills
- Communicate articulately, respectfully, and constructively
- Establish and enforce rules and boundaries of behavior for children in their classrooms.We have a very structured classroom environment.
- Be professional and mature in appearance and attitude
- Help children use resources and explore during learning and play activities using the Montessori method of learning
- Help with homework and after school care
- Ability to be on your feet
- Ability to lift and move
- Ability to conduct chores apart from child care (cleaning, etc.)
- Willingness to appropriately engage with children and other staff members
