The Kimbell Art Museum offers paid, part-time Education internships to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates, who are interested in learning about museum practices and developing professional skills. The Kimbell internship program is designed to mentor future museum professionals from diverse cultural, economic, social, and educational backgrounds. Interns are assigned to departments based on their academic background, professional skills, interests, and goals. Under the supervision of designated staff members, interns work both independently and collaboratively to gain comprehensive experience through immersive projects. Education department interns help to plan, prepare for, and implement arts-based educational experiences for diverse audiences; learn about daily practices within the museum profession; and further develop their appreciation and understanding of masterpieces on view in the galleries. At the end of the internship cycle, interns facilitate 30-minute gallery discussions informed by provided readings, supervised research, and practice sessions.
