About The Position

The Customer Service Clerk is responsible for front-line customer service at a Liquor Mart, including processing sales transactions, handling stock, providing product information, and performing security and housekeeping duties to ensure a positive customer experience. The position reports to the Store Manager and involves a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (completed) preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of cash handling, customer service, and computer skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of six months experience in a customer service-related industry is an asset.
  • Certificate in Marketing, Sales or Business Administration is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge and greet customers.
  • Approach and offer assistance to customers, providing a positive customer experience.
  • Inform customers of merchandising events, samplings, and sales.
  • Provide information to assist customers with product selections.
  • Use Point-of-Sale and inventory computer systems to complete sales transactions and returns.
  • Process customer payment using debit, credit card, gift cards, and cash.
  • Ensure accurate and secure handling and processing of cash and credit/debit slips.
  • Package orders using appropriate resources.
  • Provide carry-out service if appropriate.
  • Provide Controlled Entry door coverage as required.
  • Handle permit requests and refunds.
  • Respond and resolve customer issues.
  • Answer phone using established protocols.
  • Receive beer, stock, and store-to-store transfers ensuring invoices are correct.
  • Unload pallets and move products to shelf locations.
  • Stock shelves, beer racks, cold boxes, and displays.
  • Remove damaged or unsaleable product and advise management.
  • Prepare store-to-store transfers and verify accuracy.
  • Participate in regular stock counts.
  • Follow established safe lifting principles and procedures.
  • Refuse service to minors and intoxicated persons.
  • Maintain cleanliness/sanitization of work areas.
  • Prepare deposits as required.
  • Assist in training or providing guidance to new staff.
  • Complete required courses and training.
