About The Position

The position involves various cleaning and maintenance duties within a building. The primary responsibilities include cleaning floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming, as well as collecting and emptying trash. The role also requires servicing, cleaning, and supplying restrooms, disinfecting hard surfaces, polishing furniture and fixtures, and cleaning windows, glass partitions, and mirrors. Additional tasks include dusting furniture, walls, machines, and equipment, mixing cleaning solutions, shampooing carpets, and restoring building interiors damaged by various factors. The position may also involve driving vehicles to perform cleaning work and requires a willingness to work beyond scheduled hours when necessary. Proper maintenance of equipment and storage areas is essential, along with notifying management of any major repairs needed.

Requirements

• Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be capable of lifting and carrying 90 lbs. up and down stairs and be able to ascend and descend ladders.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
• Collects and empties trash.
• Services, cleans, and supplies restrooms.
• Cleans, disinfects hard surfaces, polishes furniture and fixtures.
• Cleans windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
• Dusts furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Mixes water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
• Shampoos carpets, and strips, seals, finishes, and polishes floors.
• Cleans and restores building interior damaged by fire, wind, hurricane, high water, sewer overflow, smoke, or water using commercial cleaning equipment.
• Drives vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans and trucks.
• Demonstrates a willingness to work beyond scheduled work hours when needed.
• Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power.
• Properly maintains equipment and storage areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Clears debris from ground.
• Notifies managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Requisitions supplies for stock.
• Changes lightbulbs in buildings as needed.
• Performs additional duties at request of supervisor.
• Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.
