About The Position
A Pt. Access Financial Counselor assists patients in the ER with their financial obligations. The role involves determining the financial status of the patient and/or guarantor, completing all financial/insurance related functions and signatures, and communicating with third party payors to obtain insurance benefits and authorizations. The counselor is responsible for collecting money due from patients at admission or in the ER setting prior to discharge, registering patients by obtaining necessary and accurate financial and demographic information, and responding to various inquiries in a pleasant and helpful manner. Additionally, the counselor must complete all necessary reports and communicate with Case Management, Patient Financial Services, and other departments as appropriate.
