About The Position

Essentia Health is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) psychotherapist as an integrated member of our primary care team based in Detroit Lakes, MN. The position involves providing therapeutic and diagnostic services to patients and families, including individual, group, and family therapy, mental health intakes and assessments, diagnostics, and coordination of treatment services. The role may also require providing Minnesota DHS Clinical Supervision for Partial Hospitalization Programs. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with potential outreach to Walker and Menahga clinics. The psychotherapist will work within an interdisciplinary team of primary care providers, psychologists, LICSWs, NPs, and psychiatrists, managing psychosocial aspects of chronic and acute diseases and applying behavioral principles to address lifestyle and health risk issues.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, clinical counseling, psychology, or a related discipline.
  • License to practice psychotherapy in Minnesota and in good standing.
  • Licensed or license-eligible to provide telehealth services in other states.
  • Must obtain a license in North Dakota within 6 months of hire.

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client intakes focusing on diagnostic and functional evaluations.
  • Make recommendations to the primary care provider and/or psychiatric medication provider concerning clients’ treatment goals and plans.
  • Provide consultation to enhance primary care providers' skills in treating mental health concerns.
  • Document clients’ progress and diagnostic information in the treatment chart.
  • Collaborate with members of the Behavioral Health team to maintain a supportive workplace environment.
  • Assist clients with community functioning, including public benefits and vocational rehabilitation.
