About The Position

The Psychometrist position at Ft. Bliss, TX involves administering, scoring, and documenting assessment procedures under the direct supervision of a credentialed privileged psychologist or neuropsychologist. The role requires utilizing therapeutic assessment and interview skills to elicit accurate and concise accounts of the patient's condition. Responsibilities include screening patients to determine presenting problems and priority of appointment, performing basic assessment procedures, including initial screening evaluation and standardized neuropsychological testing, and assisting credentialed providers with identifying mental health diagnoses and treatment strategies, as well as providing patient education. The Psychometrist will also assist in providing specialized treatment and rehabilitation of brain-injured and mental health patients, observe, monitor, report, and record patient interactions during assessment sessions, and institute precautionary measures to prevent patient injuries due to suicide, homicide, or elopement. Coordination with other military agencies and MTFs regarding specialized care, treatment, and administrative functions is also part of the role, along with explaining neuropsychological services and procedures to access care to patients and commands, and assisting in or arranging for patient referral to other facilities for alternate levels of care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a related behavioral science field from an accredited university or college.
  • Certified by Board of Certified Psychometrists (BCP).
  • One year of full-time experience in psychological and/or neuropsychological testing and test scoring within the last three years.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Contact military or community agencies to obtain collateral information.
  • Explain neuropsychological services and procedures to patients and commands.
  • Assist in or arrange for patient referral to other facilities.
